Civera is an early-stage software startup that’s on a mission to make government more transparent and accountable. We love what we do, we have fun doing it, and we’re looking for a versatile Cloud DevOps Engineer to keep us innovating far into the future.

Our ground-breaking software has been featured in The New York Times and WIRED and is becoming the nation’s most popular government portal for citizens to find election results and understand money in politics. Our tools are already launched in ten US states and are poised for adoption by other state, county, and municipal governments, and even other countries — but we need your help.

You are a mid-tier or senior cloud dev-ops/platform, site reliability, and/or security engineer with at least 5 years of full-time experience in supporting the uptime, reliability, security, and performance of complex web applications. We are looking for a Cloud DevOps Engineer who is capable of working on multiple projects at once and seeing them all through to completion, and a self-starter who is able to work through any obstacles to get the job done. A passion for our mission of serving the public through better government transparency is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage uptime, reliability, security, and performance of infrastructure supporting complex web applications.
  • Provide deep management of Kubernetes, including deploying and managing CNCF-compliant environments.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Kubernetes-based applications, read system logs, and identify issues.
  • Manage and deploy infrastructure automation tools like Terraform, Helm, and ArgoCD.
  • Manage and deploy CI pipelines in platforms like Github (or similar)
  • Implement and manage full-stack observability using Grafana (or similar) monitoring stack, observability across infrastructure, applications, and services (opentelemetry)
  • Oversee company compliance with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar GRC frameworks, including executing infrastructure and process improvements to maintain compliance at all times.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Passionately follow tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies and participate in internal & external technology communities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of full-time cloud dev-ops architecting, administration, site reliability/uptime support
  • Demonstrated aptitude for extensible and scalable multi-environment architecture
  • Proficiency in Linux administration, enterprise networking, and containerization (Docker).
  • Strong Python scripting skills for automation and debugging purposes.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid cloud deployments.
  • Experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar GRC frameworks, including executing infrastructure and process improvements to maintain compliance.
  • Multiple tech stacks and application frameworks a plus, e.g. LAMP, MVC frameworks, React, Node, NextJS.
  • Expertise in Git and Github
  • Project management platforms, e.g. Jira, Confluence
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)

Compensation

$75K – $135K annual salary range. Salary commensurate with experience and skills. This is a full-time role. Rapid advancement, health benefits, flexible schedule, and paid time off included.
